Our mission at Balnacraig is to make positive meaningful changes in the lives of young people, underpinned by our core shared values of respect, integrity, compassion, honesty and fairness.

We provide school-care accommodation in single en-suite bedrooms for up to 12 young people aged between 11 and 17 years in our main building at Balnacraig. Our on-site annexe at Am Bruach provides close support and independent living for 2 young people aged between 11 and 17 years. We also provide an emergency respite service, Safe Base, in Craiglunie and Eden House, our cottages on the outskirts of Pitlochry and Blairgowrie.

In the past two years we have done a significant amount of staff training on understanding attachment and developing reflective practice and so our nurturing, therapeutic approaches create a safe and caring environment in which positive relationships are established and individuals thrive.

One of our key strengths is our well established links with the local CAMHS team through our Clinical Psychologist who works with us two days a week and provides excellent support to young people, staff, parents/carers and other professionals. A Clinical Psychiatrist also visits regularly to review any young people who are on medication for developmental disorders or who have mental health difficulties.
