Balnacraig has excellent links with the local community and provides a very wide range of activities which fully embrace the principles of a Curriculum for Excellence and provides many opportunities for wider achievement as well as skills for learning, life and work.
We encourage all our young people to engage in community based activities, participating in local clubs and events, and/or engaging in voluntary work, work experience or college placements.
All activities undertaken are accredited in awards either through ASDAN, Youth Achievement or Saltire Awards and we also provide opportunities to join the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.
Taking part in wider achievement activities offer young people the opportunity to learn team building, communication and life skills, and prepare them for future life challenges. By building on individuals’ strengths and interests in this way, we regularly celebrate success and this also helps to develop young people’s self-esteem and confidence and build resilience.
We also encourage young people to contribute to society through taking part in fund-raising events and other events such as the kilt run around the North Inch in Perth.
